Following over a year of preparations and more than 20 international consultations, the Commission on Global Security, Justice & Governance, a flagship project of The Hague Institute for Global Justice and The Stimson Center (Washington, D.C.), will launch its Final Report on Confronting the Crisis of Global Governance from the Peace Palace in The Hague, “The City of Peace & Justice”, on 16 June 2015 (10-11 am).

The Commission’s Co-Chairs, former U.S. Secretary of State Dr. Madeleine K. Albright and former Nigerian Foreign Minister and UN Under-Secretary-General Political Affairs Dr. Ibrahim A. Gambari, will present the Commission’s chief recommendations. Commissioners Mayor Jozias van Aartsen (former Foreign Minister of The Netherlands) and Ambassador Michael Schaefer (BMW Foundation Chairman and former German Ambassador to China) will also participate. The project has considered new frameworks for collective action on critical issues such as state fragility, climate governance, and the hyperconnected global economy.

CNN International’s Christiane Amanpour has been invited to moderate the launch event. In addition to Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Foreign Minister Bert Koenders, leading government, business, international civil society, members of the parliament, media and diplomatic representatives will be invited to participate, including the heads of the international courts and tribunals in The Hague.

The program will also include a strong international media component. It will seek to profile the strengths of the City of The Hague as a key international center for global policy and institutional reform discussions at the intersection of peace, security, and justice.

The launch will take place in the Academy Hall of the Peace Palace, which can host up to 350 guests.
