The VRE4EIC project organises a workshop for Open Data sharing

The VRE4ICT project is organising a workshop entitled “Virtual Research Environments: Obtaining new insights by sharing Open Data for interdisciplinary Research Purposes”. The workshop will be held as in conjuction with CeDEM16, the international Conference for e-Democracy and Open Government, that will take place in May 2016 at the Danube University Krems, Austria.

The objective of this VRE4EIC workshop is to elicit, refine and discuss requirements for a secure and trusted Virtual Research Environments that integrates Open Government Data and open research data for researchers from multiple disciplines.

According to Anneke Zuiderwijk - van Eijk, researcher at the Delft University of Technology, “The workshop is relevant for participants of the international Conference for e-Democracy and Open Government, since it focuses on topics that are key to this conference, including open data, open access, and open and collaborative government. The discussions that will take place will help VRE4EIC to develop and further specify the requirements of the e-VRE technology”.

VRE4EIC intends to change the life of 70.000 European researchers, by providing them supporting tools for collaborative, multi-disciplinary data-driven science, as needed to tackle critical societal challenges such as climate change and energy sustainability.

e-VRE is the project software outcome, that will be available under an open source software license for maximum uptake and community building.

VRE4EIC is a 3-year Horizon 2020 research & innovation action (EINFRA-9-2015) coordinated by ERCIM.

E. du Perronprijs
De E. du Perronprijs is een initiatief van de gemeente Tilburg, de School of Humanities van Tilburg University en brabants kenniscentrum voor kunst en cultuur (bkkc). De prijs bestaat uit een geldbedrag van 2500 euro en een sjaal, ontworpen door Miriam van der Lubbe en vervaardigd bij het TextielMuseum. De jury bestaat uit voorzitter Sjaak Kroon, secretaris Geno Spoormans en de leden Manu van der Aa, Herman Beck, Jenneke Harings, Tineke Nugteren en Wilbert van Herwijnen. In 2014 wonnen Warna Oosterbaan en fotograaf Theo Baart de prijs voor Ons Erf. Andere laureaten waren onder meer Mohammed Benzakour (2013), Koen Peeters (2012), Ramsey Nasr (2011), Alice Boot & Rob Woortman (2010), Abdelkader Benali (2009), Adriaan van Dis (2008) en Guus Kuijer (2007).
