Anja Volk holds masters degrees in both Mathematics (1998) and Musicology (1996) and a PhD in the field of computational musicology (2002) from Humboldt University Berlin, Germany. Her area of specialisation is the development and application of computational and mathematical models for music research. The results of her research have substantially contributed to areas such as music information retrieval, computational musicology, digital cultural heritage, music cognition, and mathematical music theory. In 2003 she has been awarded a Postdoctoral Fellowship Award from the Women in Science and Engineering Program at the University of Southern California, USA and worked two years at the university's Music Computation and Cognition Laboratory (2003-2005). In 2006 she joined Utrecht University as a Postdoc in the CATCH-WITCHCRAFT project in the area of Music Information Retrieval. In 2010 she has been awarded a highly prestigious NWO-VIDI grant from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research, which allowed her to start her own research group. Her current project ‘Modelling musical similarity over time through the variation principle’ (MUSIVA) investigates music similarity in an interdisciplinary manner comprising Music Information Retrieval, Musicology and Cognitive Science.
In 2012 Anja has been nominated by NWO to join "AcademiaNet: Profiles of Leading Women Scientists" in Europe, a database of renowned female professors and distinguished researchers. She is a board member of the International Society for Mathematics and Computation in Music (SMCM), the International Society for Music Information Retrieval (ISMIR), and of the Computational advisory board of the Lorentz Center, International center for workshops in the sciences. She was organizer of the interdisciplinary workshop "Music similariy: concepts, cognition, and computation" with internationally renowned researchers from Computer Science, Cognitive Science and Musicology at the Lorentz center in Leiden in 2015, and Program Co-Chair of the 5th Biennal International Conference on Mathematics and Computation in Music 2015, London.

Messieurs Paul Schnabel ou Alexander Rinnoy Kan peuvent vouloir commenter au chapitre l'Enseignement et les Sciences faites d'électronique: comment penser l'éthique? Les autres responsables se sentant concernés peuvent également vouloir donner leurs points de vue. Même des femmes d'ailleurs.
