This seminar focuses on the next phase of the EU's Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) with special attention to the institutional developments related to the changing roles of the European Commission and the Council. The follow-up to the December 2013 European Council on Defence will be central to the discussions. The seminar will take place in Brussels on Wednesday 5 November (afternoon only).

On October 28th, former President of Latvia Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga and China-specialist Jonathan Holslag will deliver the 13th Europe Lecture. This year, the theme of the lecture is 'Europe in the World: Peace and Security'. The lecture will be moderated by Tom de Bruijn (que j'ai déjà eu l'occasion de rencontrer lors d'une autre rencontre), alderman of The Hague and former permanent representative to the European Union.

Avec: http://www.clingendael.nl/person/paul-meerts parce que ce blog l'a rencontré en REAL. Des questions délicates étaient posées. Sur la médiation en particulier. Ou comment être un bon diplomate? Faut-il toujours donner la priorité au business comme monsieur Meerts a semblé le suggérer? De quel "proces" parlait donc Paul Meerts? Il faudra bien un jour se mettre d'accord: qui fait quoi à Bruxelles? et qui est responsable? Et surtout, que pensent vraiment les Européens? Une question pour Jacques Attali peut-être. Il pourrait même répondre ici en direct. Et pourquoi pas? Tout devient possible lorsque l'on parle de changement de paradigme dans le bon sens et de devoir de transmission bien compris... à l'heure de l'électronique pour tous ou comment bien comprendre les mots liberté et égalité. Et RESPECT. Et si Jacques Attali venait en personne à La Haye?
