On 6-7 January, the College of Commissioners is travelling to The Hague for its traditional visit to the incoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which in the first semester of 2016 will be held by the Netherlands. President Juncker and the other Commission Members will discuss the priorities of the Dutch Presidency during a number of working sessions with the Dutch government.

The background:

Twice a year, the College of Commissioners travels to the Member State that holds the presidency of the Council of the EU, in order to discuss the EU’s priorities of the next six-month period with the Member State’s government. From 1 January, the Netherlands will hold the Presidency of the Council of the EU, followed by Slovakia (July-December 2016), Malta (January-June 2017) and the United Kingdom (July-December 2017).
