Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development will today inaugurate the bookstore “Albertine Books.”

New York will once again have a French bookstore which, with more than 14,000 titles, will offer a wide selection of works by French and francophone authors. Its aim is to make French works accessible throughout the United States, beyond New York City. As of December 2014, a selection of books in French and translations will be available in the “French Corners” of major U.S. bookstores.

Located within the premises of the Embassy of France’s Cultural Services Department, Albertine Books will also be a venue for meetings and discussions with French and American authors. The first Albertine festival from October 14 to 19 will feature intellectuals and artists from both countries, including writer Emmanuel Carrère, mathematician Cédric Villani, Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz, director Olivier Assayas, and designer and director Marjane Satrapi.
