Facing the Future: Art in Europe 1945-68 belicht zo’n 160 werken die zijn gemaakt tussen 1945 en 1968 door kunstenaars uit Europa en de voormalige Sovjet-Unie, zoals Fernand Léger, Vladimir Tatlin, Gerhard Richter, Pablo Picasso,... Ondanks de spanningen tussen Oost- en West-Europa in de jaren na de Tweede Wereldoorlog, experimenteerden kunstenaars aan beide kanten van het IJzeren Gordijn met gelijkaardige kunstvormen als mediakunst, actionpainting, conceptuele kunst en geluidskunst. Samen met het Poesjkinmuseum in Moskou en het ZKM toont BOZAR voor de eerste keer een overzicht van de kunststromingen die na de Tweede Wereldoorlog bloeiden in Oost- en West-Europa. Een betekenisvolle samenwerking in de luwte van een nieuwe krachtmeting tussen Europa en Rusland.
