The aim of the 2016 Centre is to cover both theoretical and practical aspects, with regard to a variety of situations and conteXts. Considering that the contributions are to be published later on in the form of a Centre book, the candidates are eXpected to be able to write fluently in either English or French.

The selection of candidates will be carried out jointly by the Secretary General of the Academy and the two Directors of Research. The candidates will be informed about the final selection in April 2016.

Er zijn complottheorieën over vaccins en klimaatverandering, maar ook over aliens en 9/11. Dat komt volgens prof. dr. Stef Aupers (Mediacultuur, KU Leuven) deels doordat wetenschappelijke kennis door burgers steeds meer wordt betwijfeld. De ‘waarheid’ is altijd omstreden en alternatieve interpretaties vinden een groot publiek via het internet. Mensen onthullen graag geheimen, maar zijn blijkbaar ook terughoudend in het accepteren van door media, politiek en wetenschap vertelde verhalen. Wat is er toch zo aantrekkelijk aan complottheorieën? En hoe trek je de lijn tussen een gezonde kritische houding en ongezonde paranoia?
